The 2018 Da Nang - Summer Rendezvous program will be held at East Sea Park, the city’s beaches, Son Tra Peninsula, and along both banks of the Han River from June 16 to 20, with a wide range of fascinating cultural and sporting activities.
The opening ceremony on the morning of June 16 will be held at East Sea Park, with other exciting activities including a flashmob bikini performance (June 16), a street carnival (the evening of June 16), a musical show (every evening from June 17 to 20), the Fun Beach Musical Festival (the afternoon of June 17), a folk games festival (from June 17 to 20), and a bartending competition (June 19).
From June 16 to 20, a photo exhibition featuring beautiful images of the city’s tourism, a food and beer festival, a kite festival, the decoration and arrangement of coracles, along with stalls selling souvenirs and introducing the city’s tourism stimulus programs will also be held at the park.
The park’s beach will also feature a free open-air cinema, the first of its kind in Vietnam, on June 18; considered the most inviting activity in this year’s Summer Rendezvous program.
Local people and visitors alike will be treated to free screenings of films showing the allure of Vietnam’s beaches and landscapes, including the Hollywood blockbuster “Kong: Skull Island”, “Cu Va Chim Se” (Owl and the Sparrow), and “Doi Cuu Ho Bai Bien” (Beach Rescue Team). The films will be screened from 6pm to 11pm on June 18.
Another activity of interest is International Yoga Day, which will be held on My Khe Beach on the morning of June 19. Participants will also have the chance to attend yoga classes taught by internationally-trained instructors from India between 5.30am and 8.30am on June 20.
Paragliding races will be organized on June 16 and 17, in which professional and amateur paragliders from the city and elsewhere around the country will race from the top of Ban Co (Chessboard) Peak to Man Thai Beach in Son Tra district.
Meanwhile, fascinating street music performances will take place along the banks of the Han River from June 18 to 20. A coracle competition and a sand sculpture contest will also be organized on Pham Van Dong Beach on June 20.
Alongside the ongoing Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2018, the Da Nang - Summer Rendezvous program is expected to make the central coastal city the ideal choice for visitors from both home and abroad during the summer vacation and will affirm its stature as Vietnam’s leading destination for international events and festivals.
During the first five months of this year, Da Nang welcomed more than 3.2 million visitors, including around 1.3 million foreigners and more than 1.8 million Vietnamese, a year-on-year increase of 30.4 per cent. The city’s Department of Tourism has implemented procedures to build a tourism promotion center and continues to finalize planning for city-wide tourism accommodation by 2025 with a vision to 2030. Da Nang is expected to attract around 7.4 million visitors this year.
