The VN-Index ended August 9 on HSX at 963.50 points, down 2.77 points (0.29 per cent), while the VN30-Index closed at 945.89 points, up 16.03 points (1.72 per cent).
On HNX, the HNX-Index closed at 107.80 points, up 0.13 points (0.12 per cent), the HNX30-Index 192.06 points, down 0.82 points (0.43 per cent), and the UPCoM-Index 51.47 points, up 0.18 points (0.36 per cent).
Liquidity on HSX was VND3.8 trillion ($163.6 million) and on HNX was VND649.9 billion ($28 million).
Food and beverage stocks to gain ground included TLG, by 7 per cent, SAB 4 per cent, BBC 3.3 per cent, KDC 2.8 per cent, VNM 1 per cent, and TAC 0.6 per cent. GTN lost 4.2 per cent and BHN 3.4 per cent and VCF closed at its opening price.
Gainers in banking included TPB, BVH, VPB, CTG and SSI, by 4.1, 3.1, 1.1, 0.4 and 0.2 per cent, respectively. VCB and TCB lost 1.3 per cent, BID 1.2 per cent, MBB 0.6 per cent, STB 0.4 per cent, and MSN 0.1 per cent. EIB closed as its opening price.
In energy, GAS gained 0.2 per cent as PPC lost 0.8 per cent, PVT 0.6 per cent, PVD 0.3 per cent, and PLX 0.2 per cent.
The Top 5 shares bought by foreign investors were VCB, MSN, DXG, GAS and BID.
VNM was the largest net sold share on HSX, followed by VIC, NVL, VHM and PVD.
VGC was the largest net sold share on HNX, followed by DGL, HUT, PVS and TNG.
On UPCoM, foreign investors bought 425,504 shares worth VND1.88 billion ($80,955).
They net sold on HSX by VND36.27 billion ($1.5 million) and on HNX by VND2.18 billion ($93,870).
