Two police generals to be demoted to lower rank.

Under decisions signed by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on August 8, Mr. Bui Van Thanh was dismissed from his post as Deputy Minister of Public Security and Mr. Tran Viet Tan was stripped of his title of former Deputy Minister of Public Security for the 2011-2016 tenure, due to serious wrongdoings, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency.
On the same day, the Prime Minister also signed a document submitted to the State President on demoting Mr. Tan from the rank of Senior Lieutenant General to Lieutenant General and Mr. Thanh from Lieutenant General to Colonel.
The State-run news agency also reported that, earlier, the Politburo imposed Party discipline on the two officers.
