A new trim level has been added to the MINI Clubman estate range. Named City, it"s specifically aimed at corporate buyers and is packed with equipment intended to ease life on the road.

MINI has reached for a name from the past for its fleet-focused Clubman, but while the City badge once graced entry-level models of the classic small saloon, the new Clubman City is anything but basic. A 6.5-inch colour infotainment display is standard, with sat nav, Apple CarPlay and DAB radio to soothe on long trips, and rear parking sensors to help at journey"s end.

• Best cars for company-car users

The City package builds on the standard Clubman specification, which includes air -conditioning and cruise control, as well a "sports" steering wheel and 16-inch alloy wheels, which can be upgraded to 17 inches as an option. Run-flat tyres are also available.

The Clubman also boasts "Minimalism" fuel-saving technology that combines brake-energy regeneration, a gearshift indicator and engine stop-start. These measures help the 1.5-litre diesel to return a claimed 68.9mpg, with CO2 emissions of 109g/km for a Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) company-car tax rate of 26%.

There"s also a 1.5-litre petrol for those who prefer the green pump, and you can choose an automatic gearbox with this engine. It returns a claimed 48.7mpg as a manual and 49.6mpg as an automatic, and both occupy the 27% BiK bracket.

Order books for the MINI Clubman City open on 1 August, with prices starting at £19,995.
